Reaching out for support can often be such a challenging step. I’m so glad you made the decision to begin this process of growth, exploration, and recovery. Throughout our work together, I will help you to build on the strengths you already have, as well as support you in building a strong foundation you can rely on during future challenges you may face. It is a given that we will continue to face barriers throughout life, but it is my hope that the counseling process will help to make those future and current barriers feel more manageable. My primary focus as a Therapist will always be based on empowering you as my client. This means that I will distribute my attention and support so that it is heavier in the beginning of the treatment process. My support will naturally and gradually wane as you learn, practice, and master new skills. I hold my clients accountable to being an active part of the process. The more energy you invest, the more rewarding the outcome will be! My counseling style has been described by my clients as attentive, empathic, warm, affirming and positive. I promise to work at whatever pace you feel most comfortable with. This process is about you.
Since receiving my Master’s Degree in Clinical Mental Health from Old Dominion University, I have worked in a wide array of settings and with a diverse range of clients. My work experiences include: inpatient treatment for youth and teens; community based family therapy for at-risk youth and their caregivers; and telehealth services for adults and teens. I am excited to bring these experiences to my work in a Private Practice setting and am committed to continue growing and learning as a Therapist.
