Clarissa Wood holds a Doctorate of Philosophy in Clinical Psychology from Auburn University and completed her internship through the University of Rochester School of Medicine and Dentistry, both programs accredited by the American Psychological Association. She is a New York State Licensed Psychologist with a strong background in cognitive-behavioral therapy specializing in children, adolescents, and their families. In addition to direct clinical work, Dr. Wood has provided supervision to practicum students, masters-level clinicians, pre-doctoral interns, and post-doctoral fellows. She recently left the field of residential treatment to pursue her dream of private practice and community-based services.
Dr. Wood utilizes evidence-based treatment and assessment approaches, backed by sound scientific support, in her work with children, teens, and families. Areas of speciality for Dr. Wood include treatment of disruptive and oppositional behavior, anxiety and trauma, and psychological evaluation including diagnosis of autism spectrum disorder and other developmental disabilities. She believes in a collaborative process and views family involvement as an integral component. Dr. Wood prioritizes cultural competence and seeks to understand the unique worldview of her clients. She continually pursues professional development regarding best practices in work with children and adolescents and their families through readings, trainings, and consultation with colleagues.
Dr. Wood is a transplant from the South who has fallen in love with the Rochester area, especially its mild summers and awesome grocery store chain! She and her family enjoy attending festivals and concerts, supporting the local sports teams, and exploring the Rochester food scene.
